“UN Slams Israeli-Designated Safe Zones In Gaza.”
The UN warned that it was impossible to create so-called safe zones for civilians to flee to inside the Gaza Strip amid Israel’s bombing. Israel has been air-dropping leaflets on parts of southern Gaza, telling Palestinian civilians there to flee to other areas.
“The so-called safe zones… are not scientific, they are not rational, they are not possible, and I think the authorities are aware of this.”
(James Elder, spokesman for Unicef)
Elder insisted that the safe zones declared by Israel “cannot be safe nor humanitarian when unilaterally declared.” The pretense that it is somewhere safe for people to flee to is “callous.” he told reporters in Geneva via video link from Cairo. He stressed that in a proper safe zone, “you can guarantee the conditions of food, water, medicine and shelter.”
These are entirely, entirely absent. You cannot overstate this. There are tiny patches of barren land, or they are street corners, they are sidewalks. There is no water, facilities, or shelter from the cold and rain (and) no sanitation. Elder pointed out that in the overcrowded shelters housing Gaza’s displaced, there had been one toilet for every 400 people.
“Now remove these people and put them in… the so-called safe places. It’s tens of thousands of people without a single toilet — not one — no clean water, nothing to drink. Without water, sanitation, and shelter, the so-called safe zones risk becoming zones of diseases.”
Meanwhile, Israel is open to “constructive feedback” on reducing harm to civilians during the new phase of its war in Gaza.
“Any constructive feedback that we get, any serious military strategy advice about how to target Hamas while minimizing harm to civilians, we will, of course, mention. We didn’t pick the battlefield; Hamas picked the battlefield.”
(Eylon Levy, Israeli government spokesman).
“This Is A Genocide By Israel.”
Qatar’s emir issued a stinging rebuke of Israel in opening remarks of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit in Doha. “Israel’s occupation forces have violated all political and humanitarian values,” Qatar’s emir said.
“Our summit takes place while the severe tragedy and the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe resulted from the aggression that our Palestinian brothers and sisters subjected to, especially our people in the Gaza Strip. All religious, ethical, and humanitarian values have been violated in occupied Palestine through crimes the occupation forces are committing against humanity. It is unfortunate that despite how big the crime exposed is and the protests that happened all over the world, there are still some official players who feel that a cease-fire is too much for the Palestinian people.”
(Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatari Emir).

Could This Tremendous Humanitarian Disaster Be Compared To The Holocaust?
Nowadays, whenever a comparison is made between a particular ethnic expulsion of an entire people and the Holocaust, there is an immediate outcry from Jewish organizations. They say this cannot be compared to any other humanitarian disaster. However, we have a different opinion about this: While the German camps only existed for four years, the enormous humanitarian catastrophe that Israel has struck the Palestinian people dates from 75 years ago and is still ongoing. Hence, this disaster far exceeds the Holocaust!
