“You carved out our hearts, because it is clear that you do not know how to live in the world without dominating others. But the world is finally glimpsing the terror we have endured at your hands for so long, and they are seeing the reality of who you are and who you’ve always been.”
It’s the words “and who you’ve always been” that need to be emphasized. It’s important to mention this. Because even now, the cry is still loud and shrill, and it’s proclaimed with utter urgency that Jews were always innocently persecuted abroad throughout the centuries. Susan Abulhawa’s words have now put an end to this myth. Because it was only once these Jews arrived in Palestine that they revealed their true, evil face. This means that they were already like that in the host countries where they stayed, before they emigrated to Palestine. Until then, however, they couldn’t reveal their true nature abroad.
