James 5:14-15.
In the epistle of the apostle James, we read the following about praying for those who are sick:
“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he had committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” (James 5:14-15 KJV)
Divine Healing is Not “Psychosomatic Healing.”
In the verses quoted here, James says that those who are sick will be healed by “the prayer of faith.” And the Lord Who listens to this prayer will heal them. This is real divine healing. However, Benny Hinn, one of those prosperity teachers, speaks about “psychosomatic healing.” In addition -and this is very important – he says that the prayers only contribute to psychosomatic healing, so here is the emphasis not placed on “the prayer of faith”, which it should. Because it is the prayer of faith that is accepted by God. But what Benny Hinn says about it is that’s not divine healing! He teaches that we must have faith in our mind with its mental power to heal ourselves physically rather than having faith in God Who heals us by prayer! So it really comes down to trusting yourself rather than trusting God. However, attributing this way of “healing” to God’s method of healing people is wrong. So Benny Hinn can really be considered a conman.

In antwoord op de vraag van TOI” (Times of India-TN) zei Hinn: “Dit is psychosomatische genezing waarbij de geest in staat is om het lichaam zelf te laten genezen. Zelfs voordat ik op het podium kom, zijn er al mensen genezen; de muziek, gebeden en de atmosfeer dragen daar aan bij.”
Jakobus 5:14-15.
In de brief van de apostel Jakobus, lezen we het volgende over het bidden voor degenen die ziek zijn:
“Is iemand krank onder u? Dat hij tot zich roepe de ouderlingen der Gemeente, en dat zij over hem bidden, hem zalvende met olie in de Naam des Heeren. En het gebed des geloofs zal den zieke behouden, en de Heere zal hem oprichten, en zo hij zonden gedaan zal hebben, het zal hem vergeven worden.” (Jakobus:14-15 (Oude Statenvertaling)
Goddelijke Genezing is geen “Psychosomatische Genezing.”
In de hier geciteerde verzen, zegt Jakobus dat degenen die ziek zijn, genezen zullen worden door “het gebed des geloofs.” En de Heer Die naar dit gebed luistert, zal hen genezen. Benny Hinn echter, een van die welvaartsleraren, spreekt over “psychosomatische genezing.” Daarnaast – en dit is belangrijk – zegt hij dat de gebeden slechts aan psychosomatische genezing bijdragen; hier wordt dus de nadruk niet op “het gebed des geloofs” gelegd, wat wel zou moeten. Want is het gelovige gebed wat door God geaccepteerd wordt. Maar wat Benny Hinn erover zegt, dat is geen goddelijke genezing! Hij leert dat we vertrouwen moeten hebben in onze geest met zijn mentale kracht om onszelf fysiek te genezen in plaats van geloof in God, Die ons door gebed geneest! Dus komt dit eigenlijk neer op vertrouwen in jezelf dan het vertrouwen op God. Door deze manier van “genezing” nochtans toe te schrijven aan God’s methode om mensen te genezen, is dan ook niet juist. Dus kan Benny Hinn werkelijk als een oplichter worden beschouwd.
