Rumors of Savile’s possible child sexual abuse and that he even might belong to a secret group of Satan worshippers were dismissed as conspiracy theories and evil fabrications at that time. For this reason, after his death, aged 84, in October 2011, Savile was brought to his final resting place with great reverence and interest. However, even after his death, the rumors of satanic child abuse surrounding Savile persisted and became more persistent.

In 2013, one of the British papers, the Scottish Daily Express, informed that Savile, during his lifetime, would have been a member of a secret Satanic ring based on testimonials from abuse survivors who claimed to have been abused and mistreated by him:
